Our newest addition, Kayla Ann Pierson, arrived Saturday January 30 at 4:20pm
7lbs. 4 oz, 20 inches
She's got dark hair, long fingers and fingernails, and is eating like a champ!

Her name means pure and beloved (she already seems to be beloved by her big brother).

Jenn had insomnia from 1:00am-4:00am. After laying down for a bit, she started breathing through some contractions. Andy woke up and started timing them. This progressed for the next 10 hours where Jenn's contractions ranged from 4 minutes apart to 15 minutes apart. We wondered if we were actually in labor. After getting pretty intense, Jenn asked Andy to call the doctor at 2:30 that afternoon. Benji was amazing, rubbing Jenn's back and saying "mommy contractions". We were/are so proud of him. After talking with the doctor, we called Jenn's friend Brooke to come over to pick up Benji. Heading to the hospital we got there at 3:15. While getting changed in triage, the nurse urgently opened the bathroom door after hearing Jenn growl..insisting we must be close. Jenn was 8 cm after being checked. Shortly thereafter, she progressed even further and we urgently awaited the doctor's arrival so that her water could be broken. The doctor (one from a different practice) finally arrived. Within 5 minutes, Jenn's water was broken and baby Kayla arrived (2 pushes!)--1 hour after arriving at the hospital. Jenn was proud to do the labor all natural and feels terrific!
